During rehearsals, members get help with their singing technique and how to interpret the music. There is no requirement to be able to read music, just a willingness to want to learn how to sing in a choir. Everyone is worried initially as to whether they will be good enough to join in. That is why rehearsals are relaxed and informal to help new members become part of the group.

During term times, New Voices will cover a selection of pieces, from a wide variety of different musical styles. There really will be something for everyone! Occasionally, we put on small concerts at the end of term to show family and friends how the group has progressed.

New Voices, originally the training choir for the Ipswich Choral Society, reformed in September 2008 as an independent choral group. Now with around 20 singers and under the direction of conductor Pamela Vinten, New Voices has a new ethos; to learn and perform a wide variety of songs, increase understanding of music and enjoy choral singing.
